Post Vacancy: Specialist SEND Teacher
Location: Heartsease Primary Academy, Rider Haggard Road, Norwich NR7 9UE
Salary: Main pay scale 1-6 (dependent on experience)
Job Type: Part-time 0.6FTE; fixed term one year initially
Start Date: September 2021 or sooner if possible
We are looking for a passionate and proactive specialist SEND Teacher for our Specialist EYFS/KS1 SEND Provision, ‘Moonstone’ Room, who is committed to helping our pupils succeed. You will have opportunities to develop your expertise through amazing CPD, a tailored career plan and to work in a collaborative and supportive environment.
The HEART Education Trust’s aspiration has been to develop an outstanding/excellent special educational needs provision for all our pupils, underpinned by our vision that every pupil in our schools will leave ‘having identified and developed their knowledge, a range of skills and talents and a sense of their own uniqueness’, therefore enabling every child and young person to achieve the best possible outcomes whatever their starting point. Our belief is that for these particular EYFS and Key Stage One children with complex and multiple special educational needs, that this will be best achieved in a specialist resource base within our mainstream schools.
The aim of Moonstone Room is to provide a specialist EYFS and Key Stage One Inclusion Base which will make sense to children, young people and their families that addresses their needs earlier and to be a place where all pupils achieve their full potential in a learning environment where they feel safe, happy, accepted and included. These are pupils that will struggle to access a mainstream classroom as their needs may make it difficult for them to cope with the sensory overload of a mainstream classroom, require a highly differentiated and personalised curriculum and higher ratios of staff to pupils.
We are committed to our role in promoting inclusion, and strongly believe in the power of early intervention with the cooperation and partnership of all those, who share our commitment and endeavours to improving the life chances of children and young people affected by special educational needs.
