The HEART Education Trust is pleased to announce a number of vacancies on its new central committees.
As a committee member, you will assist and advise the Strategic Board of Directors with the governance of the Trust and its four Norwich-based primary schools. You will work with the Trust’s Executive Board to ensure robust governance and the proper management of the Trust. This is a chance to make a real difference to education in Norfolk.
We are looking for volunteers to join the following committees:
Education Performance & Standards Committee
The Executive Headteacher reports into this committee about pupils’ performance and educational standards across the Trust. The committee looks at pupil data to ensure that progress is being made by all pupils, and that pupils are working to age related expectations. If you have an educational background and a good knowledge of curriculum and assessment, perhaps having previously taught yourself, then please do consider joining this committee.
Safeguarding & Inclusion Committee
The Director of Inclusion reports into this committee about safeguarding matters and about the Trust’s vulnerable groups of pupils (e.g. pupil premium, SEND, EAL). The committee ensures that safeguarding is robust across the Trust, that pupil premium and SEND funding is being properly spent so as to demonstrate impact for those pupils to which it relates, and that our vulnerable groups of pupils and our higher attaining pupils are also making good levels of progress. If you have a particular skillset that relates to working with vulnerable groups of pupils or safeguarding, then we would love to hear from you.
Finance & Audit Committee
The Chief Finance Officer reports into this committee, which is responsible for overseeing all of the financial matters of the Trust and advising the Strategic Board accordingly. We are very interested to hear from highly skilled volunteers with a background or knowledge in accounting or other areas of finance. This role might suit a junior accountant looking to add to their CV or a banker looking to add some community or volunteer work to their portfolio. If you work in a financial role in the academy sector, such as a banker or auditor who has academy clients, then joining a committee like this is a great way to get to know the challenges your clients face on a day-to-day basis.
Risk Management Committee
This committee was established by the Strategic Board to help identify and mitigate the principal risks and uncertainties that the Trust faces. The risks are split into the following categories: strategic & reputational; operational; financial; external; regulatory; environmental. Each member of the committee is associated with a particular category of risk. If you are experienced with risk management, operational matters such as HR, health and safety or facilities management , or regulatory and compliance matters affecting the education sector, then this committee is for you.

Committee meetings usually last around 2 hours and take place half termly (6 per year). The schedule of meetings for 2017/18 is available from Julia on request.
